Kal Penn is one of the biggest rising stars in Hollywood right now, and his first starring role in "The Namesake" looks to be a successful first step. If you missed our exclusive Kal Penn interview a few months ago, you may not have heard of this upcoming film about an Indian family and their son (played by Kal) and his struggles to fit in with the American society. He feels like he needs to rebel by changing his name, and by ignoring his culture, yet his parents think he should be proud of where he came from; more specifically the meaning behind his name - Gogol. I'm really looking forward to this film, as it hits theaters in a few weeks on March 9th, 2007 and is sure to be a box office winner. Once you watch the stunning trailer below, I'm confidant you'll mark this one on your calendar. Full official synopsis below!

"The Namesake" is the story of the Ganguli family whose move from Calcutta to New York evokes a lifelong balancing act to meld to a new world without forgetting the old. Though parents Ashoke and Ashima (Irfan Khan, Tabu) long for the family and culture that enveloped them in India, they take great pride in the opportunities their sacrifices have afforded their children. Paradoxically, their son Gogol (Kal Penn) is torn between finding his own unique identity without losing his heritage. Even Gogol's name represents the family's journey into the unknown. -- © Fox Searchlight Pictures
