Addictions suck dude, seriously. I've led a pretty healthy lifestyle the past 22 years, save the countless nights of binge drinking and trying
to attain the deity drinking status of reaching the Double Century Club (got to 174 shots!), but everyone has a few vices here in there.
Cigarrettes? Honest to God, I've never tried one, and doubt I ever will. Aside from drinking heavily, the only addiction I had throughout my
four years of college was to that of Mountain Dew. You see, I can't stand coffee, so I needed some form of caffeine to get through all the
finals weeks, not to mention all those all-nighters I decided to work on College Downtime. That's why Mountain Dew was the perfect
solution. Once I started throwing them down day after day, it was virtually impossible to stop. However, the last 48 days have shown me
light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. You see, I'm a pretty athletic guy; I lift weights five days a week and run regularly, and I knew all
the Dew was bringing me down a bit. Well let's just say I found something that has waned me off drinking countless bottles and cans of Dew,
and it's called MDX; Mountain Dew's latest energy drink.
The night I lost my MDX virginity was awesome, let me tell you. I bought a bottle of regular Mountain Dew MDX before I sat down during the
first night of Hell Week here at College Downtime, where my ultimate goal was to add at least 1,000 new movies over a 7 day period. Let's
just say I was going to need a nice energy boost to keep me going all week, and MDX did that and more. The first time I drank it, I felt much
more energetic and alert than if I had just drank a can of regular Mountain Dew. Quite possibly the best part however was the taste; it
tasted almost identical to friggin a can of Mountain Dew! Alright, it wasn't identical, but it has a very similar taste and it's the reason why I
haven't drank a Mountain Dew (or any soda for that matter) for the past 48 days, which is enough to impress me. Recently I've been picking
up bottles of the Sugar Free version of MDX, which in my opinion even better. While it definately has the "diet" aftertaste to it, the
nutritional facts say it all. No caleries, no sugar, no carbs, and just a pinch of sodium. That's a healthy energy drink, and it tastes pretty
good. It also comes equipped with ginseng, taurine, guarana, d-ribose, and maltodextrin, to give you an awesome, natural boost. If you're
on a tight budget however, the MDX series might not be a daily purchase since they're about $1.25-$1.75 a bottle, at least around here. That
may not be a lot in your mind, however, remember it's not a 20oz bottle; you only get 14oz. There's definately more punch in those bad
boys though, compared to a 20oz bottle of Mountain Dew, and it's a much healthier route which is the best part. Mountain Dew MDX is worth
the price, especially if you're like me and want to slowly wane yourself off your Mountain Dew addiction.
