Band names are always fun to pick. Okay, so I've never had to pick one since I'm instrument and musically challenged, but I've got a hunch that artists take a long time to pick that perfect name. My hat goes off to this latest band to come across my desk in the form of a review copy: Soular: Love Crash Heal. Get it? Soular, like "solar", but with soul? While I don't consider myself to be the Jon Lovitz of reviewers, I do know that you shouldn't judge a book (or a CD) by it's cover; or it's name. In this case though, it's hard not to considering how clever their friggin name is! Seriously though, their name isn't the only creative part of their brand new record, "Love Crash Heal". The music really creates it's own style, and it reminds me of alternative rock that will bring you back to the 90's, which is definitely a good thing. All twelve of these tracks are radio worthy, and it's not a surprise that the gentlemen of Soular are starting to get recognized nationally. Their tunage has been featured on television via HBO's "Inside the NFL", as well as on MTV's "Road Rules"; not many bands can say that, but then again not many bands have this level of musical quality. Is "Love Crash Heal" a must have? In my mind, no. However, Soular is without a doubt a band to keep an eye on, because after listening to this solid album I've got a feeling that they're right on the cusp of worldwide stardom. Overall a solid CD; before you buy though, head on over to their official website to sample some of their new tunes. You won't regret it.
