Van Wilder Van Gone Wilder DVD Review
Lionsgate
Review Posted on January 14th, 2006

You know a lot of people go to college for seven years. Yeah, they're called doctors. Tommy Callahan wasn't the only notable undergrad to spend seven years at college; Van Wilder also accomplished that feat and did in style with Kal Penn and Tara Reid at his side. With the release of Van Wilder 2, Lionsgate decided to re-release the original film in unrated form; they actually coined it as the "Van Gone Wilder Edition", bringing the official name to the DVD to, "Van Wilder: Two Disc Van Gone Wilder Edition The Unrated Edition". Yeah it's long, but the good thing is so is everything else they added on that you can't find anywhere else, which should be reason enough to sell or trade your old copies of this film to get this new one, becuase folks it's well worth it.

The film itself is virtually unchanged, except for the sweet bit about showing a lot more nudity and making it just a lot more vulgar overall. The special features on the other hand, are so many I think I'd need two or three pages to list them all. To save time and your attention span, let's just highlight some of the better ones. When you pick this copy up you'll get your hands on a hilarious Ultimate College Party Guide, drunken idiot kommentary, a feature called "Party Legends, Pledges, and 'Bull'-ies", Gwen-ezuma's Revenge, an interactive quizzicle on the Testicles of the Animal Kingdom, a Surgarcult music video, tons of deleted scenes and outtakes, lots of sweet features from Comedy Central, and that's just scratching the surface. All the nudity and raunchiness is showcased in glorious 5.1 and 2.0 Dolby Digital Audio as well, so all the boobies will be crystal clear and all the f-bombs will be music to your ears. This Van Gone Wilder Edition has raised the bar as far as additional content is concerned; couple that with an already famous movie and you've got yourself the must-have DVD of well, the year. Pick this one up today or be cursed forever.
