The Hitchhiker Volume 3 Review
HBO Video
Review Posted on November 6th, 2006
Premiering in 1983, the year this little webmaster was spawned on accident, a creepy new drama was aired on HBO called "The Hitchhiker". Every episode of this popular series started and ended with Nicholas Campbell (The Hitchhiker), walking down the side of the road or leaning up against some building saying a few words regarding the lessons learned in each episode. If you're having trouble relating, just think of the "Final Thought" that Jerry Springer does at the end of every show. Now you following? Thought so. While the show is a suspenseful drama at heart, the plot lines typically revolve around sex, power, and some more sex. Remember folks, this show is an HBO concoction; it's not rated, so you're going to see a lot of nudity, albeit pretty tame. Oh, and it's from the 80's, so yeah.
Volume 3 of this pretty solid televison series isn't in any chronological order, so when you pick this title up you're going to get a random collection of episodes from 1983 to 1990, which honestly is pretty neat. Aside from television episodes, that's all you're getting. There are no special features, no extras, nada. Zilch. Zero. Two discs and no special features; it's kinda sad really. If you've never seen this show before, let alone heard of it since it's a little before our time, I'd suggest renting it before buying it. After renting it, then you can decide if this is a must have for your DVD collection. Overall though, pretty weak sauce; I'm not gonna lie.
