When I first saw the trailer for Lady in the Water, I thought it was gonna be a horror film; yeah, you could say I was wrong, but after watching the film I walked away extremely happy with what I saw. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring one of my favorite actors Paul Giamatti, Lady in the Water takes viewers into a storybook world via exceptional writing and even better acting, which in all honesty is a must for this type of film. Paul Giamatti stars as Cleveland Heep, an apartment building superintendant that catches what he thinks is a young woman in Story, who actually turns out to be a character from a bedtime story who is trying to make her way back home. Creatures from her world have surfaced and are hunting her, trying to prevent Story from making the return, so it's up to Cleveland to convince his tenants to help him before it's too late. If you keep an open mind and appreciate a great story with stellar acting, you're really going to love this film. Even better, you're going to love this DVD!
Lady in the Water just hit store shelves thanks to the fine folks over at Warner Bros, and you can tell they really went the extra mile by jam packing this baby with a smorgesboard of extra features. One is an amazing 6-part documentary that is a must see as soon as you finish the feature presentation, while you also get something that is beyond rare as far as special features go: cast auditions. On top of that WB threw in lots of cool deleted scenes, a hilarious gag reel, the original trailer, and more. From front to back, Lady in the Water is one solid DVD release, and a great pick next time you think of updating your DVD collection. Rent or buy, you can't go wrong here; pick this one up today!
