Black Christmas Unrated Review
Dimension
March 28th, 2007
Let the slay ride begin! Black Christmas, arguably one of the best horror films of 2006 is finally getting unleashed onto DVD in glorious unrated form. This bloody slasher remake features some of Hollywood's hottest up and coming actresses, in both meanings of the word: Michelle Trachtenberg, Lacey Chabert, Katie Cassidy, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Grindhouse). When an old movie is redone (I guess I didn't need to say "old", oh well) it usually ends up tanking and ultimately tarnishing the series' name. Black Christmas is one remake that doesn't follow that path; in fact, this remake is far and away better than the original, and after watching both of them I guarandamntee you'll agree with me. Okay so it's a stellar slasher film; what about the rest of the DVD? Is it worth buying or should you just rent it?

To answer the question, this DVD is one you're gonna want to buy if you enjoyed the film. Dimension really went the proverbial extra mile by jam packing this unrated disc with tons of high-quality features, like 3 outstanding alternate endings, deleted scenes, and two in-depth features on the "making of the remake" as well as a behind the scenes look at the director's perspective. While the 3 alternate endings really stand head and shoulders above the other special features, the group as a whole coupled with the feature presentation really make Black Christmas a must have for any horror fan's movie collection. If you've never seen the movie and want to rent it first, go for it; you won't be disappointed and will more than likely buy it afterwards. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up today, it's easily worth the investment. Overall a very solid DVD.
