American Pie Band Camp Review

DVD Review written by Raffman on January 4th, 2006
Stifler is back. Well, kinda. It's actually his little brother, although not the little
brother you get a glimpse of in the original American Pie film, this is an entirely new
actor. For that matter, the entire cast is new save good ol' Eugene Levy, more commonly
known as "Jim's Dad". The American Pie series is one of my favorites, mainly because after
each movie I always think the next one is going to be horrible, and after I watch it I think
it's better than the one before. I thought American Wedding was by far the funniest, so
going into this one I was naturally a little skeptical. Well, my gut was finally right, as
"Band Camp" is definately not worth it. It's worth it as a rental, but unless a few of your
buddies are throwing in too, I wouldn't buy this DVD.
There are a few things that I liked about this low-budget DVD however, and I think you will
too. First off the casting team did an exceptional job at finding an exact lookalike for
the new Stifler; he looks and even sounds exactly alike. There also is a girl throughout
the movie that is absolutely hilarious, and I wish she would've been more of a focal point
because otherwise this would be a totally different movie. Just look for the skinny, brown
haired girl that is a total nerd, and she's got a huge lisp. Trust me, when she's on screen
it will be the only times you'll probably laugh so you'll know who I'm talking about.
Lastly, there's Eugene Levy, or Jim's Dad. He's honestly the only name or face you'll
recognize in this movie, and he's still one of the best characters in the series. That's
pretty much sums up what I enjoyed about Band Camp, so I guess it's time to move on to what
I didn't like.
To put it bluntly, Band Camp is not funny. The script is horrible, and it will make you ask
yourself why they even bothered. Oh I know why, because this DVD is chock full of naked
women. So if you're looking for nudity, then Band Camp is for you. If you're looking for a
hilarious American Pie film, go watch one of the old ones. I'm also curious as to how large
the budget was for this movie, since they used the exact same soundtrack as the previous
films and the acting they hired absolutely sucks. Please people, don't waste your precious
college dollars on this DVD, go rent it or try downloading it off Limewire or something.
It's horrible, and not worth the purchase price whatsoever. It was a good idea, but they
failed miserably.
