Ever wake up one morning with a million dollar business idea? Did you follow through with it? Jake Steinfeld knows how you feel! That's why he wrote this incredible book, "I've
Seen a Lot of Famous People Naked, and They've Got Nothing on You!" Jake's primary goal in writing this motivational book
is to get people off their feet so they can start working for themselves, and not for someone else. This fantastic book
covers all the bases, from how to construct your very own business plan, to choosing trustworthy business partners, where
and how to borrow money, why you should never quit in times of failure, and oh so much more. The book also features a
fantasitc foreword from world reknown film director, Steven Spielberg, who is not only a close friend of Jake's but also
his very first celebrity client. If you've ever dreamt of running your own business, working for yourself, and making
yourself money, Jake Steinfeld's book is for you. It's a short yet addictive read which is perfect for the busy college
student, especially the college student who isn't sure where they want to go after graduation. This morning I got
the incredible chance to sit down with the creator of "Body by Jake" himself to ask him a few questions in an exclusive
College Downtime interview about his brand new book, and what it has to offer to curious college students like yourself. Although I was unable to digitally record the interview, I took some notes and included some great quotes from our conversation this morning straight from the uber success-story himself, Jake Steinfeld.
"I don't know about you, but I'd rather drive off a cliff myself than have someone else drive me off."
Why work for someone else when you can work on your own, doing what you love, and keep all the profits? The hilarious movie, "Office Space", is perfect for this quote. "What's my motivation, Bob? If I work my ass off and Initech ships a couple extra units, I don't see another dime!"
"Passion leads, dough follows."
As you'll find out from reading Jake's incredible book, you can't be doing this for the money; the passion for doing it must come first. Once the passion is there and you've put the hard work and commitment into it, the rewards will come whether it be "dead presidents", as Jake likes to call them, worldwide fame, or a smile on someone's face. In the book, Jake believes that even if regular, old Joe Schmoe has a passion for his idea (good or bad), and turns that passion into hard work and dedication, the success will come. Ever hear of "fat clamps" before? No? Just another reason why you should stop reading this book review and start reading Jake's book!
"Opportunity works like electricity. You've got to be plugged in to get the charge."
Anyone ever work as a telemarketer in college, or are employed as one now? Beyond telemarketing, any sales job has direct relevance to this fantastic quote. If you want to make money, you have to be proactive and constantly dialing the phone or knocking on people's doors; 99.9% of the time the dough isn't going to come to you, you have to go get it! In other words, get up off your lazy ass if you're serious about your idea, because it isn't going to happen on its own.
"Your darkest days as an entrepreneur will be brighter than your brightest days of contributing to someone else's dreams!"
Reading this as an entrepreneur myself, I can't express to you how true this really is. Why in the world would you want to work your butt off all day from 9-5 making someone else more money while you're stuck at a static salary? Do you enjoy working overtime so that Bill Lumberg's stock will go up a quarter of a percent? Jake hopes not, and I hope you don't either! This quote might be one of the best in the book, and this book is chock-full of them if that tells you anything.
"Street-smart successes have never seen a glass of water as half empty. It's always half full.
Calling all pessimists! calling all pessimists! As Jake will tell you in this awesome book, starting your own business will be tough. Most people have at least one great business idea in their lifetime, yet talk themselves out of it because they're not confidant enough about it. Do you honestly think your 9-5 job for Corporation XYZ is stable? Do I need to bring in "The Bob's" from "Office Space" here people? Yes starting your own business is a risk, but why not put the risk in your hands where you decide if your'e successful or not instead of Bill Lumburg? Jake stresses that you must remain optimistic even in the darkest of times, because success will come from hard work. As an entrepreneur I completely agree with him.
"I've Seen a Lot of Famous People Naked, and They've Got Nothing on You!"
Yep, it's the title of the book, and if you think this book is about celebrity nudity you're completely wrong. It's been a while since I've seen a book title this catchy, and it has real meaning as well. To get to the point, Jake has seen and gotton to know Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg, Bette Midler, and many other famous celebrities and you know what he found out? They're not different from you, or the mailman, or that creepy kid at the end of your dorm hallway. He's seen them in their raw; in their gym clothes and needing help. By working with these megastars, Jake has seen firsthand what success is, and how these people have gotton there. How they got there is quite simple; they got off their butts and worked hard at their dream.
You don't have to have an MBA from Harvard or Stanford to be successfol or rich. Hell, you don't even need a Bachelors or even an Associates. Jake never attended college. Come to think of it, if you look down the Forbes Top 10 list for the richest people in the world you'll notice the same trend; degrees are nice but they don't mean much in the business world. Bill Gates dropped out of school. He's number 1 on that list. Are you reading this on a Dell computer? (DUDE, you're getting a DELL!!! - sorry had to!) The CEO of Dell is on there and guess what, he dropped out of college too. Now I'm not telling you to drop out of school and neither is Jake (neither of us want to talk to 40,000 screaming mothers). All I'm saying, and what I think Jake is saying too in this delicious read, is that all you need is yourself. Through this great book, Jake will remind you time and time again that you don't need a boss or a professor to guage whether or not you're successful, life is too short for that. Don't sit on your butt and then regret working for Bill Lumberg the rest of your life; read Jake's book and do what I damn well know you want to do - work for yourself! This book receives my highest recommendation, and I'd like to personally thank Mr. Steinfeld for the interview; I learned a lot! Thanks to Molly from Special Ops as well for setting this up! Go buy this book people.
