Wii, Gamecube (Nintendo)
Action-RPG, Release Date: November 19th, 2006 (Launch Title)
Posted October 3rd, 2006
This November 19th, the video game world will be turned upside down once again with the launch of the Nintendo Wii and the release of arguably the most anticipated game ever, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Nearly eight years ago we experienced "The Ocarnia of Time" for the first time, and it still stands as the only video game ever to attain a perfect 10 on IGN. Ever since that title with the exception of it's spinoff, "Majora's Mask", we've been wanting an even darker Zelda. Four hundred and forty-six weeks later we'll finally just get that in "Twilight Princess".
Originally slated for a Gamecube release, Nintendo decided to push the title back and develop it also for the Wii to take advantage of the new controller capabilities. Remember how B.A. (badass, see Dane Cook the fishing system was in "Ocarnia of Time"? That mini-game alone could've been a standalone title, but it was just one of the many stellar assets in a truly complete game. Well the fishing system is back, and it's even better with the new Wii controllers. Players get to use the Wii Remote (or Wiimote) just like a real fishing pole: pull it back and thrust it forward as if you were casting a real fishing rod, wiggle the lure on your line by wiggling the pole, and reel it in with your other hand that's holding the Wii Numchucks. Does that sound insane or what? The gameplay only gets better folks.

The combat system for the Wii version of "Twilight Princess" is the real deal sealer though, as cool as the fishing game is. Remember that Wiimote I was talking about? Well that my faithful followers is your sword. If you thrust with the Wiimote, Link will thurst the Master Sword forward instantly. If you slash with the Wiimote, Link will slash with you. Alright, let's take a break here so you can clean up all that drool on your keyboard; depending on how new this info is to your brain you may need either a Brawny paper towel or a beach towel. Alright, all cleaned up now? Good. While swinging the lumber is all fine and dandy for melee fights, sometimes you need to pull out the bow and shoot a few perched bad guys between the eyes. With the Wiimote it's extremely easy to do: simply switch to your bow, aim at your target with the Wiimote and press B to fire away.
While the Wii is considered a next-gen system, let's make this clear: graphically speaking, it's nothing compared to the 360 and PS3. Nevertheless, it really doesn't have to be considering gameplay rules over graphics every single time. "Twilight Princess" will look basically the same on both the Wii and Gamecube, so don't be expecting a higher-rez product if you go the Wii-route. "Twilight Princess" still looks absolutely amazing, and sports beautiful graphics that will suit this game just fine. It's the same way with websites really. Take College Downtime for example; it looks like a piece of shit site, but deep down it's got so much funny content. That's why it's popular, you see, because people look past the graphics and look into the heart. Kinda like relationships too really. I know I go on personality over looks anyday, and you probably do too. Okay, that was a huge lie haha.

Getting back on track here, "Twilight Princess" is going to be a lock for Game of the Year this year; you heard it here first. What makes it even sweeter is that the Wii is going to be ultra-cheap compared to it's next-gen competetitors; you should be able to pick up a Wii console and "Twilight Princess" for only $300 before taxes! Folks if there has ever been an upcoming game that can reach the rare perfect score mark over at IGN, "Twilight Princess" will be it. This game is going to be that good. Be friggin sure you watch both of the delicious videos below; they are a must see and even show a glimpse of one of the final fights against Gannon. You're welcome. Our Wii/Twilight Princess pre-order is in, and the review will come asap once it arrives at our doorstep!
